❤️ Faith Focus: “Use Me”
Someone came up to me recently with tears in her eyes and thanked Len and me for being part of her mornings—not just now with the podcast, but all the way back to our days on 95.5 The Fish. She shared how much the encouragement had meant during some difficult seasons of her life.
Moments like that always humble me. They remind me that what may feel like an ordinary conversation to us can become an answered prayer for someone else.
It also took me back to a song I loved as a teenager called “Use Me” by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. I was fascinated with New York City and was convinced I’d move there one day. I even bought one of their CDs because I was certain I’d end up attending their church someday. Life had other plans, but that song stayed with me.
Its message is simple: Lord, use me.
I’ve thought about those words often over the years. Before a radio show. Before recording our podcast. Before stepping on a stage. My prayer has rarely been, “Help me say the perfect thing.” It’s been, “God, if You can use this… use me.”
The beautiful thing is that prayer isn’t just for people with microphones.
God can use the teacher who notices the struggling student….. The nurse who offers a comforting smile and is there for people in some of their toughest time. The cashier who chooses kindness!!! The neighbor who checks in or just says hello… The parent who patiently listens. The friend who sends a text at just the right time.
You never know how one small act of encouragement might change someone’s day.
So as you head into this week, maybe make this your simple prayer too:
“Lord, use me today.”
You may never know the impact your kindness has this side of heaven, but God does.
